High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. Typical Applebee's. Had a weird carryout experience here once where there wasn't really anywhere for me to stand, but other than that the service has been fine as expected. Elsewhere I'd give it a 3/5, but there are so many great restaurants in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, I'd skip it in favor of a unique local place. Update: I appreciate that the manager replied to my review -- I've had some really bad customer service experiences lately in Ann Arbor, so it's nice to see that someone seems to actually want my business. 3/5. :)

I went there with a couple of senior people. They had $5 coupn and I had one for myself. First, we intended to sit at two adjacent tables because we didn't want the complications of coupons refusal when we paid. But, the waitress told us that it's fine if we follow the coupon rules of ordering enough amounts of food separately as we requested two different bills. The waitress was careful as she had checked all the coupn rules carefully in front of us. However, when we paid, the manager approached and said that even separate bills couldn't honor separate coupons. I said that we planned to sit two different tables and had asked the waitress before. "she said OK" The manager refuted, "because she didn't know" The point is: 1. "She does not know!" You are in the management team...."She does not know".....it reflects that you had not done your job,.....not our issue. We did ask and check before. 2. The customers are both over 80 seniors. Is it not so kind to seniors, even they followed all the coupon rules. For many restaurants, they even offer senior discounts without using coupns. 3. We waited the food for over 30 mins. Did we complain? Did any staff come to apologize? The service was so terrible. Even Apple Bee issues other coupons, we won't come back.

This place has the WORST service we have ever experienced! first when we ordered lunch specials mine only had 2 tiny pieces of chicken in it, my husbands was fine. It wasn't a cheap "lunch special" either so I kindly pointed this out and its false advertisement also. I am not one of those irate customers and never will be but I will give nasty reviews when necessary. Anyway We received no apology for this and on top of that the waitress never even checked on us anyway we had to call her over for water. We went a 2nd time with a friend who wanted to eat there and again had bad service. She would walk by fast and ask if all was ok but not stick around for a second to listen! One of us wanted water she wouldn't stay to hear what we had to say then when we tried to flag someone down we were completely ignored! really? how can you justify such terrible service? We will no longer bring business to this establishment and will discourage anyone else from doing so. They dont care at this place and are also rude, she gave my husband and I separate bills, we were with our son also... we are an asian/white family so I assume they are racist as well since they ASSUMED we were separate... they didn't even ask! They also think its ok to just slam the bill on the table and walk away without at least saying have a nice day? rediculous! By the way we didn't even complain the whole time we were there and always polite, I can't imagine being rude to someone like that its not acceptable!

Good service. Accommodating staff. The 3 stars is for the food. The steak with grains was way over cooked and very chewy. The lightly cooked vegetables were pretty good. They offered to recook however the steak only had a touch of pink even on the second try. It could have benefitted from thinner slicing. Disappointing compared to the beautiful picture on the menu.

Came here for a friend's birthday. I got the garlic steak that is grilled with onions and mushrooms, and comes with some diced potatoes. I wanted the steak medium rare, but ordered it rare expecting it to be overcooked. I was right. Lesson is: order your steak 1-2 levels below what you want because mine turned out to be a tad bit cooked beyond medium rare, but not quite yet medium well. Steak was delicious and when it came out, you could tell a mount of butter was melted on top of it. For $13, you could get better and bigger (this was 7oz, I think), elsewhere, but this was still adequate to quench my steak cravings. We had mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce, and it sucked. I wouldn't recommend it. The cheese is way too thick and was definitely not melted enough. Got a sangria for the birthday kid and it was decently sized ("mucho" size; apple sangria) for about $6. It was pretty sweet and you couldn't really taste much of the wine flavor. To each their own, I guess.

Jonathan our waiter did a great job keeping our drinks filled but the food took 60 minutes from order to table and the restaurant was approximately 70% full. Food was subpar and sloppily made (the Mac and cheese contained what looked to to be leftover pastas mixed through it in order to get rid of them). Knowing this is a chain my expectations were lower, but the attention to detail was clearly lacking here. I'll be sure to avoid this place next time I'm in town and I'll let others know the same.

The service was fantastic. I checked in on yelp and got free pretzels. The dessert pretzels were fantastic, thanks apple bees!

You get a free dessert if you correctly answer trivia on their Facebook page. As far as the 2 for 20 goes, the spinach artichoke dip is a pretty large portion size. It's applebees. Nothing to write home about. Just eatin' fair-to-good in the neighborhood.

I typically try to avoid doing reviews on places like Applebees because everyone already knows what you are going to get when you go into one. I went to this Applebees for a work lunch. What made this Applebee's stand out was our server. I can't remember his name, (maybe Chris??) but he did have a southern twang. He was incredibly friendly to our group of 8 and got most of the food out quickly. He also was very good about offering refills and asking how the food was and if there was anything else he could get us. Other than our server the experience was similar to every other Applebee's.

I can't help but feel that Applebees could be summed up with one word. Microwave. Sure the ambiance has that flair expected from a chain restaraunt...all those little nick-nacks on the wall that are the same at every location. In the end however you only go there for food, maybe a drink or two but that is the real purpose of the franchise. So in the end, no matter how much excitement they try to pipe into the place it really only comes down to whether you would ever want to eat there again. I don't. I've tried to give them chances but every time the food tastes bland and rubbery. Overcooked by a microwave, dry and tasteless. Here's a hint: If you want to save a little money go to the grocery store, get a hot pocket, lean cuisine, etc and enjoy the same level of food you would get at a fraction of the cost.

Meh + Bleh= not worth it. As I was to meet my friend after my shift ended at 10pm, I suggested a restaurant down the road. However, dismayed that we found that it was closed, he suggested going to Applebees. I conceded and thus we went. Applebees in the past, has never really impressed me. Willing to give it a chance, and starving after a day of work, I told him I would go. We decided to get the "2 for $20" deal- 2 entrees and 1 appetizer. I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip, and the sweet and spicy riblets- him, he ordered a burger. I'm unsure of his burger, but my food was definitely meh and bleh. Meh, in the fact that the spinach and artichoke dip wasn't very.... good. It just tasted like there was a lot of cream in it. The riblets were definitely.. bleh. As I was trying to eat the riblets as elegantly as possible, there was no way, so I started gnawing on the bone.... until I realized there was NO MEAT on these riblets! Dude, I pay for MEAT, not just straight up bone. Next time, I'll just go for dessert. Applebees is definitely a meh + bleh.

Went here after an appointment at Domino's Farms. It was like every other Applebee's I've been to, although it's been awhile since I ate in an Applebee's while it was snowing. Props to them for pulling that off. I love dining while it's snowing. Maybe they seed the clouds, but whatever it was, it sure worked. I think we got about 4 inches today. The waitress did her job. The food was very good, except for my steak. It was tough. Not anyone's fault, but Applebee corporate for choosing a lousy steak supplier. It was cooked properly, well seasoned, but just a bad cut of beef. And that's my only beef with Applebee's. L no not quite O L.

Bad food, Bad service, decent atmosphere. This particular Applebee's, makes places like Ruby Tuesday, Fridays etc look like Michelin 5 star dining establishments. We went for dinner last night, service was slow and not competent. Appetizer - chips and salsa, how can you screw this up? Well the chips were so coated with grease that they were inedibile. Sent them back and got a fresh new batch, almost dripping with oil again. We both ordered chicken dishes- the chicken had that frozen and rethawed taste, similar to injecting it with water and cooking but worse. Side dish veggies looked old and tired, same with redskin potatoes. Truly awful which is a shame because there are few places on the NE side of A2 to go out to eat at.

I had been underwhelmed by Applebee's in the past but was pleasantly surprised by a couple of meals we had at this Applebee's adjacent to the hotel we were staying at. I had the chicken tortilla soup and a cheeseburger which were both very tasty! On a second visit my wife and I split a trios appetizer with the cheeseburger sliders, wonton tacos and boneless wings - all good! I will definitely add the chain to my list of casual, moderately priced restaurants to try again in the future.

Not that much to say about this particular Applebee's that you can't say about all Applebee's. The location is right next to a bunch of hotels, so it's never empty. Food and service are on par with all other Applebee's, and so there is no reason you shouldn't enjoy your meal.

When reviewing chains, I focus on restaurant cleanliness and service. Whether it's on my lunch break or for late night appetizers, this Applebee's has consistently great service and the environment is great for crowds. Much props to the waitstaff for being patient and accommodating even when they get large crowds of younger high schoolers or families. Recent updates to their menu have made things more expensive and smaller portions (the quesadillas probably got shrunk the most) - however, the food is still good for an Applebee's. My personal favorites are the quesadilla burger or chicken tender mac and cheese. Be sure to take advantage of their weekly specials and happy hours. Applebee's is a great place for casual dining and larger crowds.

Karaoke on Saturday nights! It's pretty great and if you like to sing there isn't a lot of time between singers. The hostess is also a great singer and super nice!!

This was one of the most unacceptable experiences I've ever had at a chain eatery. We waited 15 minutes for a table and was greeted by an affable young lady who was our waitress. She brought the glasses of water we requested then took out order. Though a bit busy I didn't expect it would take 1 hour 35 minutes for our food to arrive. While we sat, talked and waited I noticed most tables had no food present on them. I became alarmed and speculated to my date that she and should consider leaving as we observed others doing just that. Our waitress, though nice, did little to alleviate the situation. She may have been a bit overwhelmed by some of the negativity directed at her by some of the more disgruntled patrons (she said one person threw their steak at her)... She thanked us for not mistreating her due to the slow serving of the food. A manager came by and I mentioned the unreasonable wait for the food. When she asked if there was something she could do I said my date should get a free dessert. She agreed and enjoyed the chocolate cake with the molten chocolate center accompanied with vanilla ice cream.

The service and waitress was great. Ordering the nachos chips, soup, stseak dinner and salmon dibber at our table was enough. However the salmon was very dry and was not appealing as I've seen it in other locations. The visit was ok, being that it was a last minute quick choice.

Since I work walking distance from this place, I go there a lot. Applebee's is Applebee's pretty much wherever you go. The waitstaff knows us all and they always let us know about the new drink menu. Everyone is nice there and if you go for lunch you can get in and out in less than an hour~ as long as you don't go at noon. They have car-side carry out service for those days! Beware of the Blondie~ it will make you fat! I only have 2 complaints~ 1) there are only 4 smoking section tables in the whole place, and 2) happy hour ends before I get out of work.

Love the Thai Shrimp Salad; easy to go with this since I've had it before. My husband says his stacked (pork) sandwich was "good not great". However, there is some confusion about the pot stickers which our server did not help us understand. We were told the pot stickers (wontons) were boiled & then lightly grilled and that they were soft (what my 7 year old wanted). However, the wontons were hard and more on the crunchy side. Fortunately my 11 year old liked them and agreed to eat them. $8 is a bit too much for these noodle delicacies (we ordered as an entree although they are appetizers), server could have prepared us better for these. Sweet potatoe fries have a little too much salt & pricey for what you get. Overall ok food that need price adjustments.
